Welcome to am·a·waitin'

Have you ever seen an item on Amazon that you wanted but the price just wasn't what you were willing to pay? Have you ever missed out on a price reduction? Well, so have we. That is why we made am·a·waitin'.

am·a·waitin' is a small tool which allows you to create a waitin' list for items you can purchase on Amazon. You can attach price limits to those items and specify if you would like the item from Amazon directly or from one of the merchants. Once the price has fallen below your limit we will inform you via tweet or e-mail.

Using am·a·waitin’ is a piece of cake. Here the two steps to get you started once you have registered and logged in.

First off type a keyword in the blue box, similar to how you would on the Amazon website. Then below the search field select the desired Amazon service (the Amazon store you want to order the item from, i.e. Amazon.com) and click search.

You will receive ten results – just like on Amazon. If the item you are searching for is not listed please try using more specific keywords or even an ASIN to find the right item. Next to the items the search result produces you can click the "Add" button. The item will then be added to your waiting list.

The second step is assigning limits to the items and designating merchants. Next to the items on your waiting list you will find a text field. Once you enter an amount in the field the limit is set. For us to know by which means you would like to purchase the item, you now have to select any combination of the three buttons below. The first button is called "AMAZON" and means that you are looking to only purchase the item directly from Amazon. The second and third buttons both refer to purchasing the item over a marketplace merchant. The top one of the two will compare your limit to merchants who are offering the item "new" and the bottom one refers to "used" offers.

So, if you want the item to be new for example but don’t really care if you receive it from Amazon directly or from a merchant you would choose the first two buttons. Important: Please note that we do not factor in any shipping and handling costs. These (should they apply) will be added to the item price during the ordering process at Amazon.

That’s it! Once the price of an item drops below your limit we will let you know either by tweet or by e-mail – depending on your settings. One important note about the tweets: we send direct messages to protect your privacy. To receive these direct messages it is necessary for you to follow us on twitter.
