FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions.

  • What is the difference between the Amazon wishlist and items in my cart?
  • The Amazon wishlist doesn't give you any infos on whether a price has changed or not. You are simply able to collect items. If you have items in your cart then you will be notified of a price change but only when you actually go to your cart – you have to keep checking back on your own to see if a price has gone up or down. Am·a·waitin' will notify you as soon as a price has dropped below your limit – all you have to do is set the limit and then sit back and wait.
  • Does am·a·waitin' charge anything for the service?
  • No. am·a·waitin' is 100% free.
  • Why do I keep getting suggestions for items that I already have on my list?
  • Unfortunately we don't have any influence over which items are suggested. This data is provided by Amazon. It is therefore possible that items are suggested that you already have on your list or that you have bought already. This function is simply supposed to make searching for new items easier, but it doesn't play a big role when it comes to the functionality of our service.
  • What is with the three buttons below the price?
  • The three buttons let us know what your limit is referring to. The top button tells the system that your limit is intended for the Amazon price of an item meaning that you only want to purchase the item directly from Amazon. The bottom buttons refer to offers from Marketplace merchants. The top one of the two is for “new” offers from merchants, the bottom one is for “used” items from merchants. Important: When comparing prices with your limit we do not factor in any shipping & handling costs – these may, if applicable, still be added during that actual ordering process over Amazon.
  • Why can I also search Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr or Amazon.ca?
  • Once in a while other countries have better offers. Especially when it comes to CDs or DVDs it can often be of interest to order in a neighboring country. When it comes to DVDs be sure to check the languages and the region code – these can vary and may not be compatible with your system.
  • What if I want/need the item immediately – how does am·a·waitin' help me there?
Do you also compare prices with other shops?
  • To answer the first question: not at all. If you want or need an item immediately then am·a·waitin' is not the right thing for you. As the name suggests our service is for items that you want but can wait for. Classic examples are electronics, DVDs or video games. These eventually go down in price – the question is just when. With am·a·waitin' you don't have to worry about constantly checking if prices have dropped – we'll let you know as soon as they do.
To answer the second question: No, we don't compare other shops. We are big fans of the selection that Amazon offers and their customer service is fantastic which is why we do most of our shopping there. For this reason we only check prices at Amazon and not at other shops/merchants/portals – we are not a price search engine.
  • Which Amazon services can I use your application with?
  • Currently am·a·waitin' works with Amazon.com (U.S.A.), Amazon.ca (Canada), Amazon.co.uk (United Kingdom), Amazon.fr (France) and Amazon.de (Germany).
